Mid Season Review

20 December, 2022

As the season closes for the Christmas break here are the thoughts of our teams Managers and coaches .

U7s

Under 7’s are obviously still learning and the main objective is for them to have fun while developing.
On the pitch we have won and lost equal amounts of games but I’m sure nobody could tell you a single result and that’s how we like it.

U8s

U8’s have found their feet in what has been a rollercoaster of the start of their first season. They have gone from strength to strength and are being recognised for a lot of it. Great bunch of kids with great attitudes.

U9s

This year our U9’s blacks had a mediocre start to the season whilst finding their feet with some new players joining the squad.

It was a struggle to find the right fit for these players when coming up against some really good teams.

Unfortunately a couple of them dropped out and one decided to stick with it and now plays a year down where she is more comfortable and from what we hear from other managers and the match reports is doing much better.

We decided to take on another player to get the squad back to 8 and since then it’s like the team just started to switch on and show the SMJFL what they were all about winning convincingly and currently sitting 2nd in our 1st round trophy event undefeated with a fixture postponed but most importantly giving the top spot there only loss.

For the last few weeks our players have been getting looked at really closely by the likes of Stoke City & Stockport County who both now want to invite us down for a couple of friendlies against their academy teams.

The biggest stand out moment for me personally this season was seeing how the team reacted when challenged/provoked by opposition which we have had a couple of times this season but these kids all stuck together and shown that they aren’t just a junior player in the SMJFL but they are Adswood United players and we’re here to win.

U10s

Under 10’s have had a tough early season after losing a couple of players from last year and having no steadying influence from a manager.
The boys have battled hard and showed true resilience but are missing a bit of quality on the pitch and a manager off it.

As a club we will work tirelessly to find a replacement Manager but either way short term until the end of the season we ask for support from parents and committee members to support the team and assist where possible .

U11s

Hi I’m Jamie firth the adswood United u11s manager I have just started my managing career with this team only been managing them for about 3 or 4 months now and I have loved every minute of it it’s a great club to be involved in and the team and the lads are brilliant every 1 of them we have had a brilliant run of results this season and I’m still unbeaten as a manager and I’m so proud of that because of the lads and what they have achieved already in the short time I’ve been here and for the long run I hope it continues they have played brilliant and exciting football all season and the results have shown that and we have had some tough games too with sk sports and offerton which was a great memorable game in which we won 4-3 and we are still going strong in in the cup we are in the quater finals and hopefully go on to win it we are doing amazing in the league with 5 out of 5 wins and we hope this continues for the rest of the season.

U14s

the U14s are doing brilliant at present only 1 defeat so far this season . Currently in the last 8 of the stockport cup and still currently in the Cheshire cup . The lads have worked so hard this season so far and despite the disruption of different coaches training them due to my work commitments they have all applied them selves brilliantly . They started pre season by winning 3 tournaments. I really hope they continue their good form in all the competitions they are in . Every single player has contributed this season . The team have managed 51 goals in all competitions and only conceding 12 goals .

Due  to injuries and illness we have not yet had our full strength squad  out this season fingers crossed this happens come January and we hit the ground Running .  The 15 lads I’ve got all deserve to be in the starting line up each week and it really give me a selection dilemma most weeks . I am proud of every single player and how they are improving as footballers and growing in to young men .  We are competing in the top division in stockport and long May it continue !!!

U15s

U15’s have had some highs and lows so far. We’ve had some lads quitting, new lads joining and trying to get together to become a top Adswood team again. We’ve had some wins against teams that managed to do the double on us last season and we’ve also took some losses that if we had the commitment we wouldn’t have had. However, the lads are a bunch of amazing, respectful footballers who can achieve anything they put their mind to.

Mens

The mens Team started the season slow and sustained a few injuries and made it a hit and miss first few games . Performances improved and results followed and the team are currently sat 5th in division 1 and still in the Harold English Cup . The lads are full of confidence and are looking forward to carrying on where they left off come 2023 .

Merry Christmas and a happy New year from Aaran and Nathan

As  a club we would thank to thank all of our players , Parents and supporters so far this season and we go again in 2023 ⚽️ ⚫️⚪️⚽️
